Infrastructure
Thanks to a recent MECESUP project and the support of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, the CBUC has moved to new facilities. Our new lab has more than 200 squared meters, one seminar room with capacity for 20 people, one meeting room, one teaching room equipped with computer stations for 12 students, and a production room equipped with 10 working stations. We also have the most advanced university available data center in Chile, equipped with an 180.00 btu’s Stultz air conditioned machine, technical floor and advanced fire detection and extinction using FM200 gas.

Hardware
Among the extensive ad state-of-the-art computer-based infrastructure available at the CBUC, is interesting to note:
- 1 Axon GenePix 4100A microarray scanner

- A 4 CPU’s Silicon Graphics Origin 200 64 bits NumaLink cluster with 4 GB of total RAM

- 3 computer clusters composed of 8, 8 and 12 Pentium IVHT processors with 1GB RAM per node
- a 4 XEON CPU’s dedicated database server with 250 GB of hard drive capacity
- 1 hard drive network server with 8 TB of data storage capacity

More recently, thanks to a MECESUP project and an HP-Labs collaborative project, the CBUC has acquired the most advanced supercomputer cluster available in Chile:
- a HP IntegrityServer Supercomputer Cluster with 64 Itanium II Montecito DualCore processors with 128 GB of total RAM equipped with Voltaire Infiniband 10Gbps interconnect

Software
Commercial modeling software packages and individual software for sequence analysis and structural visualization, molecular modeling, comparative modeling, quantum mechanics (QM), molecular mechanics (MM), and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of biological systems are available. Software for pharmacophore identification, in silico virtual screening, ADME profiling, retrosynthetic analysis and chemical structure and reaction information are also part of our resources.
